Essentially that means it is neither maintained nor supported, could contain security vulnerabilities and other bugs, and generally should not be used.

Please check the list of supported kernel branches at Download/kernel page.

Below you can find the change log and downloads for the latest version of Fedora Core 5 kernel.

Kernel branch Fedora Core 5
Based on FC5
Status frozen, not maintained
Latest 2.6.16-1.2133_FC5.026test015
Archives Fedora Core 5

Kernel has the same functionality and feature set as base Fedora Core 5 kernel (2.6.16-1.2133_FC5), combined with the power of OpenVZ virtualization technology, equivalent to the OpenVZ development kernel (026test015.1).

For details, see 026test015.1 change log.

You need only one kernel RPM so please choose the appropriate one depending on your hardware:

  • If your x86 (i686, IA32) machine has more than one CPU (or a CPU(s) with hyperthreading), choose kernel-smp RPM.
  • Otherwise, use the plain kernel RPM (i.e. kernel).

For more info, see Kernel flavors.
